Human Jet Fuel: Reno Coffee Co.

There’s a reason Dunkin’ Donuts’ slogan “America Runs on Dunkin'” resonates with customers. It’s too real. We run on caffeine. Most of us start the day with a cup of coffee (or three..).

And while I am a loyal Starbucks gold card holder, I do enjoy the more local coffee shops in Reno. Enter: Reno Coffee Co. This new-ish coffee shop in Reno, Nevada, graces downtown and it’s one of my favorite hidden gems.

Why Reno Coffee Co.?

Reno Coffee Co. specializes in pour-over coffees and teas. They don’t do lattes or mochas or frappucinos, but they make damn good coffee. That have more than a dozen different coffees. You pick your blend and they grind it fresh. If you love dark roast like me, I recommend Jet Fuel.

Then, choose your drink. I like the Average Joe. Just coffee with cream and sugar. They’ll serve it flat–aka regular coffee–or frothy–where they put it in a blender and it gets foamy kind of like a latte.

They also make an amazing Bulletproof Coffee and a Morning Mojito–amongst others. My friend Whitney (Shout out to her for using Portrait mode on her phone below.) likes to have the Bulletproof Coffee with the Maui blend.

Now, they don’t have any pastries or breakfast sandwiches. Food isn’t anywhere on the menu. It’s the one downside. But this coffee shop in Reno is the perfect partner for a stroll along the Truckee River and the best way to kick start the day. When the sun is out, enjoy your coffee in the outdoor seating or stay warm at the limited bar style seating that looks out the window.

Oh, and don’t forget to grab a punch card while you’re there. The coffee in these photographs was free–not because this post is #sponsored, but because it was my 10th.

Where is Reno Coffee Co.?

Hidden away on Roff Way in the base of Arlington Tower next to Our Bar, Reno Coffee Co. is tucked in an unassuming location. If it weren’t for the wooden sandwich boards outside after my walk along the Truckee River one Saturday, I never would have found it. Lucky for you, you’re reading this blog.

Fun fact: Do you know their sister business, Blind Dog Tavern? It’s in the same building. So, you can stop in the morning for coffee and in the afternoon for a cocktail.

Until my next cup of coffee, here goes nothing.
