Can't-Miss California Wine Country Destinations (That Aren't Napa)

by @heregoesgabbi

The world knows of Napa and Sonoma, and for good reason. It's a bucket list wine destination.

But California offers so much more for wine lovers. Let's look at a few other California wine country hot spots.

San Luis Obispo sits near Edna Valley, along Highway 1,  and offers access to dozens of wineries specializing in pinot noirs and chardonnays.

The wineries of San Luis Obispo are also close to iconic Central Coast beaches. So, you can experience the best of California in one destination.

Don't skip a trip for rosé at Malene. It's the perfect place for relaxing outdoors with friends.

Then, there's Murphys, California, surprisingly close to Reno Tahoe. It's a town built around wine with tasting rooms up and down the entire downtown, plus nearby wineries to visit.

You don't need a reservation at most tasting rooms, so just book your accommodations and start strolling around Murphys, California.

Last, but not least, there's Morgan Hill, California—just south of San Jose without the traffic. It's more chill there with an extensive wine trail.

Morgan Hill has delightfully warm weather, but still gets the cool coastal nights, making for great wine making conditions.

For $90, you can get the Santa Clara Wine Trail Pass and access tasting rooms all around the area. I highly recommend Guglielmo Winery and Miramar Vineyards.
