What You Need to Know Before You Visit Hearst Castle

according to @heregoesgabbi

1. You need to go on a guided tour. You can't just wander around Hearst Castle on your own.

📍 Neptune Pool

2. The good news is that you can book tours based on the types of buildings and rooms you want to see! You'll never see the whole castle in one visit.

📍 Dining Hall

3.  Wear comfortable walking shoes. You'll be walking a lot and up a lot of stairs. Note: there are ADA tours for those who need them.

📍 A Guest Room

4.  Nope, you can't go swimming on your tour. There are some special events for donors that do allow you to swim, though.

📍 Roman Pool

5.  Hearst Castle is as much a beautiful home as it is an expansive museum filled with arts and historical objects from around the world.

📍 Guesthouse Stairs

6.  Hearst Castle is isolated from Central Coast towns. You'll need to drive along Highway 1 to access it.

📍 Kissing Frog Fountain

7.  On a similar note, you'll need to park at the visitors center, and then they bus you up to the castle for your tour. So bring your hat, sunscreen and phone with you.

📍 Tennis Court

After you tour Hearst Castle, head to the city of San Luis Obispo. Go wine tasting, see a concert and stay the night.
