Chic Soul Review and Winter Haul

chic soul review

Have you ever heard of Chic Soul? Until recently, I hadn’t. As with many brands these days, I discovered them via bloggers on Instagram, but I never tried out Chic Soul clothes. Then, they reached out for a Black Friday collaboration and it presented a great opportunity to write a Chic Soul review and try out a few pieces for you.

My Chic Soul Review

The three pieces they sent me are doorbusters for the Chic Soul 2019 Black Friday sale and available now! Here’s my sneak peek and review of some of Chic Soul’s snuggly winter items.

Chic Soul Scenic Overlook Poncho (One Size)

The Chic Soul Scenic Overlook Poncho is perhaps the most “hipster traveler” thing I own. It’d look great in a sunset photo near a canyon. This poncho is super soft and pretty warm without being too thick. The colors are fairly muted with browns, grays and blue. I styled it with my Eloquii Black Turtleneck, Lane Bryant High-Waisted Jeans, Torrid Black Booties and Amazon Felt Hat.

Chic Soul Snow Valley Vest and Slouchy Shirt (2X)

The Chic Soul Snow Valley Vest and Slouchy Shirt are a perfect combo for layering. The vest is fuzzy and soft on the outside and nicely lined. I will say that while it fits well in the bust, it has a looser fit in the hips and stomach. It’s not as curve-hugging as I’d typically like. However, it is the perfect cozy casual piece for running errands. The Slouchy Shirt is a great basic piece. The long-sleeve shirt isn’t super soft when you take it out of the box, but a wash will change that. I like that it’s long enough to cover my bottom in leggings. I styled the Chic Soul vest and slouchy shirt with my black high-waisted Fabletics leggings (which I live in).

Chic Soul Cozy Cuddles Poncho (One Size)

The Chic Soul Cozy Cuddles Poncho is the item I had the hardest time styling. I love the idea of a poncho, and honestly, I can’t believe they’re back in style. I remember wearing ponchos in my youth, ha! But I loved that this poncho had a Burberry-esque print, so I said “Fu** it. I’ll try it.”

I ended up styling the poncho with Spanx Faux Leather Moto Leggings and a braided black velvet headband. The poncho has a super high neck (comes up to my chin) and the fabric is warm and pretty soft. It’s not cashmere, but it’s cozy. The knit is kind of open and textured. It comes in several different colors of plaid, so you can find the one that’s right for your style.

What is Chic Soul?

Chic Soul is a plus size online clothing store for women sizes 10-22. They believe in making women feel confident and chic at any size. Chic Soul strives to offer stylish, on-trend clothing that gives women confidence in everyday life. They protest the idea that “thin is always in” and that is a mission I can get behind.

How Does Chic Soul Fit?

Chic Soul fits true to size in my experience. They do curate clothes from multiple vendors, so the sizing is subject to vary piece by piece. They have a general Chic Soul sizing chart here, which I used to determine I was a 2X in most of their items. This aligns with sizes I wear (18/20/2X) in major brands such as Torrid, Eloquii and Lane Bryant.

How Long Does Chic Soul Take to Ship?

Chic Soul shipping is fast and not too pricey! Yay! The standard shipping takes 3-5 business days, and they got my package out in just a couple of days. They currently offer $6.49 flat rate shipping and free standard shipping for all orders $100+. All that said, they currently only ship within the U.S. (Sorry, my foreign friends!) Long story short, they ship quickly and efficiently, so you’ll have your pieces in no time.

Disclosure: Chic Soul gifted me these items as part of their Black Friday promotions. This is an honest review based on my experience wearing these items in real life.
