My Must-Have Makeup Products for 2020

Here’s the deal. I’m not a makeup guru, expert and ninja. I’m your average woman who likes to look pretty and play with makeup. I never lost my childhood, play-with-your-moms-makeup lifestyle. This also means that I’ve had a few less-than-spectacular makeup moments. Thanks to that, I’ve learn what products work, and I want to share them with you. This will be a living breathing list of my favorite products, so come back any time for my latest discoveries.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

This Clinique foundation is definitely full coverage (as the name suggests). I love it! A little goes a long way on this one. Clinique describes it as lightweight, moisturizing makeup that covers thoroughly without clogging pores. Skin breathes comfortably, color stays true, even through sweat and humidity. I found that it lives up the hype and when paired with my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, my foundation doesn’t budge. I’ve used this foundation more in the winter when I’m not sweating all the time and feel like I can wear something a little heavier.

Clinique Even Better Glow Foundation

This is my alternate Clinique foundation–mostly when I want that glowy, dewy look in the summer. It has SPF 15, which is always a good idea. It’s super light and just helps fade some of my discoloration and scarring without being full coverage. It lives up to the name and gives me an Even Better Glow.

Urban Decay NAKED Heat Palette

I’ve never been a big makeup palette person until I tested out the travel-sized NAKED palette with the original shades. Then, when the NAKED Heat Palette went on sale at Ulta, I snatched it up. The quality of the eyeshadow is top-notch and I love the warm tones. I can wear it daily with light browns and oranges, or use the darker purples and sparkles to make a night time look. I can bring it anywhere, for any occasion and create a look I love.

NARS The Multiple Blush

I got this little stick as a gift from a NARS event at Ulta. I have never used a non-powder blush. This comes in a lipstick-style tube. The color I use is called Orgasm (oh la la!), which is a sheer pink with gold shimmer. It’s warm and light. It reminds me of spring and brings life to my cheeks in the middle of winter. It blends easily and is super buildable. It’s slowly become my go-to blush.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

It took me a long time to get my eyebrows waxed (my friend Hilary convinced me a few years back). Now, I can’t believe I waited so long and I like to highlight my fabulous brows with this easy-to-use pencil. It’s easy for daily application and doesn’t require expert skills. It makes them slightly bolder and fuller without them looking too bold. Like I said, it’s a daily tool and I like to go bolder for more dramatic, special occasion makeup. Honestly, I haven’t yet found a more dramatic brow tool to obsess over. Stay tuned. 😉

L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar Red Carpet Black Mascara

I have tried NARS Climax and Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara (just to name a couple) and NONE have been as good as this $12 mascara. It’s a two-step system that helps elongate and thicken my lashes in a miraculously dramatic way. It doesn’t smudge or transfer. It stays on like nobody’s business. I can’t recommend this enough.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

I’ve tested a lot of makeup over the last couple of years, but THIS has stayed a consistent part of my kit. This setting spray cools your skin down and makes everything stay in place, literally all night. It’s magic.

What makeup products should I try next? I want to hear it all! Until my next trip to Ulta, here goes nothing.
