Offbeat Fest in Reno, Nevada: A Must-Attend Event for Music Lovers

If you’re a music lover in search of an unforgettable experience, look no further than Offbeat Fest in Reno, Nevada. This annual festival (typically in the fall) features a diverse lineup of up-and-coming artists and established acts from across the country. Unlike The Reno Philharmonic that dabbles in more classic symphony music, Offbeat Fest brings in rock, folk, funk and other genres to venues across the city. Personally, I love this music festival because it has affordable full-access passes and The Subtle Lovers, which I sing back-up in, has played the last 3 years. So, it holds a special place in my heart.

The Basics of Offbeat Fest in Reno

Held across downtown and midtown Reno, Offbeat Fest usually takes place over a Thursday through Saturday, providing festival-goers with non-stop music and entertainment. You can walk between locations to catch endless shows with multiple stages at venues like The Cypress and The Virgil.

One of the highlights of Offbeat Fest is its commitment to showcasing emerging artists alongside old favorites. In 2022, we saw one of my husband’s favorite bands, Built to Spill, which definitely had a cult following in town. The festival provides a platform for musicians to connect with fans and fans to get up close and personal with their favorites in intimate settings. With so many talented performers on the lineup, you’re sure to find your next new favorite band at Offbeat Fest. This year, I discovered Prism Bitch with their electric and energize performance style and kick ass music.

How Much Are Tickets to Offbeat Fest?

In 2022, an all-weekend pass to see every show was about $100 (not including Eventbrite fees and taxes). That means you can access any show over the 3-day period—including the opening night show that usually sells out (meaning tickets can’t be purchased at the door). It’s well-worth the price. But you can also get single-day tickets if you’re only around for a bit.

If you’re looking for a low-key, welcome and fun weekend of music, Offbeat Fest in Reno, Nevada is the place to be each fall. This festival is the perfect way to spend a weekend with friends or family (amongst other things to do in Reno, Nevada). So grab your tickets, grab your dancing shoes, and get ready to experience the offbeat magic.
